Man, I have to tell you. The more people I bump into at this site, the more I feel humbled. One guy who registered makes it a regular thing to send me guitar videos on YouTube that just kill me.

It's really amazing to see the guitar coming back stronger than ever.

Recently, I exchanged emails with Jim Wilding (this guy is great!) who has been teaching in the Binghamton, NY area for about 25 years. Back in the '70s he had to work hard to keep a livable student load; like we all did. Now, he says that he's doing the 60 or so student load along with about 4-5 other full time teachers! Man, that's a real switch. I looked around the Kansas City area and see the same thing; tons of kids and adults just jumping all over the guitar.

That amazes me! Guitar is really a big deal instrument again. One of my college age daughters became a real fan of late '60's, early '70s rock & roll. She's not the only one either. I'm wondering if young kids today know more about the music I grew up with than I did about my Dad's music. I think they do.

Indie rock, alternative rock; you name it. It's all good for guitar lovers.

But the biggest thing going is the internet. Guitarists from all over the world are showing their stuff and giving all of us more things to learn. I just got back from a trip to YouTube and it's just incredible!

The best thing about all of this is now I put a lot more time into my playing. I can't resist.

These kids are killin' me!

No doubt Flip,
I too teach in the Philly PA area. There are tons of kids interested in guitar studies and at least half tons of teachers to teach it. And they all are aware of the music of the 60's, 70's 80's and on...Whatever was decent on guitar then is decent now...even more so.
I think when I was growing up listening to music that was that many years older than me and that integral to folks my parents age would have required a love of Laurence Welk and the worship of the baddest accordian players poland could give birth to.
